CFN was recently notified that the Indiana State Sales Tax on fuel is handled in a different manner. It is now our understanding that according to the Indiana Department of State Revenue, the In-State Foreign participant is liable to collect and remit the Indiana Sales Tax on fuel sold through its metered pumps, whether the Remote participant is registered with Indiana or not. To correct the collection and reimbursement of Indiana Sales Tax, CFN will effective November 1, 2010 start collecting Indiana Sales Tax from In-State Remote participants and passing the tax to the Foreign participant for remittance to the state.
Please note that for all FleetWide Extended Network transactions, applicable sales tax is (and has been) collected from all Remote participants and passed to the Fuelman merchants. The sales tax procedure for FleetWide Extended Network transactions will not be affected.
